The Elise and Exige are the flagship models from Lotus and they are both definitely among the fastest and most powerful beasts available in the current market. However, there is a group of customers that need something more user-friendly and that was the reason why Lotus developed the Europa. The vehicle was introduced three years ago so the pre-owned models are already available from the used cars market. A used Lotus Europa can be purchased for about 70 percent of a new one’s value, which in the case of such an expensive machine; means saving a lot of money. What we get is a vehicle based on the Elise platform with a GM turbocharged 2.0 litre engines developing 147 kW. The sills are lower than the in the Elise and the roofline is a little higher, which means that entering the vehicle does not require a struggle (like it was in the previous models). The upgraded interior offers much more comfortable and supportive seats, while the cabin is more spacious and allows occupants to travel for a longer time. The suspension in the used Lotus Europa is softer and offers much better comfort while driving in the city. Surprisingly, it does not have influence on the driving impressions, which are sill incredible. To sum it up, choosing a used lotus Europa is recommended for anyone seeking a great sports car in more civilised version than the track-ready Elise or Exige.
